Prohysteroceras richardsi was named by Whitehouse (1926) [DISTRIBUTION: Albian; Australia.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Toliness Homestead [Allaru Fm], which is in an Albian marine siliciclastic in the Allaru Formation of Australia.
