Fasciolaria kindlei was named by Maury (1910) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. Its type specimen is USNM 124970, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Triplofusus kindlei by Snyder (2003).
