Batropetes fritschia

Taxonomy
Hyloplesion fritschi was named by Geinitz and Deichmüller (1882). Its type specimen is SLFG SS 13558 / SS 13559 (lectotypes, previously S 275 a + b in Carroll (1971)), a skeleton (part and counterpart), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Freital, near Dresden, which is in a Sakmarian lacustrine limestone in the Niederhaslich-Schweinsdorf Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Brachystelechus fritschi by Carroll and Gaskill (1978); it was recombined as Batropetes fritschia by Carroll (1991) and Carroll et al. (1998).

Synonyms
  • Petrobates truncatus was named by Credner (1890). Its type specimen is S. 275 a + b, a skeleton (part and counterpart), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Konigin-Carola-Schacht, which is in an Asselian fine channel fill shale in the Döhlen Formation of Germany.

    It was recombined as Batropetes truncatus by Carroll and Gaskill (1971); it was synonymized subjectively with Batropetes fritschia by Carroll (1991).
