Taxonomy
Kittliconcha sciaphostera was named by Batten and Stokes (1986). Its type specimen is AMNH 42994 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMNH3026, Windowblind Butte, San Rafael Swell, which is in a Smithian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal packstone in the Moenkopi Formation of Utah.

It was recombined as Pseudotritonium sciaphosterum by Nützel (2010).
