Sarmientichnus scagliai
Taxonomy
Sarmientichnus scagliai was named by Casamiquela (1964). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is MLP 60-X-31-1 A, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Estancia Laguna Manantiales tracksite (9.2 m), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian eolian sandstone in the La Matilde Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Sarmientichnus.
