Meekia (Mygallia) roddana was named by Saul and Popenoe (1962). Its type specimen is UCLA 36085, a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCLA loc. 3916, Texas Springs area, which is in an Albian marine horizon in the Budden Canyon Formation of California.
