Meekia (Mygallia) daileyi was named by Saul and Popenoe (1962). Its type specimen is UCLA 32618, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCLA loc. 4111, Jalama Creek, which is in a Campanian offshore sandstone in the Jalama Formation of California.
