Serpianosaurus mirigiolensis

Taxonomy
Serpianosaurus mirigiolensis was named by Rieppel (1989). Its type specimen is PIMUZ T 3931, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Point 902, Monte San Giorgio, unspecified bed, which is in an Illyrian/Fassanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal dolomite/shale in the Besano Formation of Switzerland. It is the type species of Serpianosaurus.
