Nannites was named by Mojsisovics (1881) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ptychitinae by von Mojsisovics (1882); to Nannitidae by Diener (1897), Spath (1951) and Tozer (1981); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Trachyceratidae by Brayard et al. (2009).
