Nielsenoceras was named by Furnish (1966) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Xenaspis skinneri.
It was assigned to Paraceltitinae by Spinosa et al. (1975); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Paraceltitidae by Leonova (2002), Korn (2006).
