Taxonomy
Norites was named by Mojsisovics (1869) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-u Tr Ladi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302,1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Ammonites gondola. It is the type genus of Noritidea.
It was assigned to Lytoceratinae by von Mojsisovics (1882); to Noritidea by Tozer (1981); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Noritidae by Spath (1934), Fantini Sestini (1994), Fantini Sestini (1996), Vörös (2018).
