Taxonomy
Thomasites fischeri was named by Benavides-Caceres (1956). Its type specimen is AMNH 27880.3, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Bed 24, Tembladera section, which is in a Turonian carbonate limestone in Peru.
