Taxonomy
Valcouroceras elongatum was named by Flower (1952). Its type specimen is a specimen in the USNM, a shell, and it is a cast. Its type locality is Valcour Island, Lake Champlain, "Middle Chazy Limestone", which is in a Chazyan carbonate limestone in the Crown Point Formation of New York.
