Fulgoraria (Psephaea) zinsmeisteri was named by Mount (1976). Its type specimen is UCR 6602/1, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCR 6602, which is in a Selandian coastal sandstone in the Santa Susana Formation of California.
