Taxonomy
Hemiaster (Bolbaster) callidus was named by McNamara (1987). Its type specimen is NMV P100503, a test, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Port Campbell Limestone, which is in a Miocene carbonate limestone in the Port Campbell Limestone Formation of Australia.
