Goniatites paucilobus was named by Phillips (1836) [Lecotype from Gilbertson Collection]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is B. M. C257, a shell.
It was recombined as Anthracoceras paucilobum by Bisat (1934), Gordon (1964), Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1971).
