Owenodon hoggii

Iguanodon hoggii was named by Owen (1874). Its type specimen is BMNH R2998 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Durlston Bay, Swanage (DB105-107), which is in a Berriasian marine limestone in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Owenodon.

It was synonymized subjectively with Iguanodon prestwichii by Dollo (1882); it was synonymized subjectively with Iguanodon mantelli by Woodward and Sherborn (1890); it was synonymized subjectively with Camptosaurus prestwichi by Nopcsa (1901); it was synonymized subjectively with Camptosaurus prestwichii by Nopcsa (1902); it was recombined as Camptosaurus hoggii by Norman and Barrett (2002), Norman (2004), Naish and Martill (2007), Galton (2007), Naish and Martill (2008), Pascual-Arribas et al. (2009); it was considered a nomen dubium by Paul (2008); it was misspelled as Owenodon hoggi by Pereda Suberbiola and Ruiz-Omeñaca (2013); it was recombined as Owenodon hoggii by Galton (2009), McDonald et al. (2010), McDonald et al. (2010), McDonald et al. (2012), Zheng et al. (2013), Verdú et al. (2015), Fuentes Vidarte et al. (2016), Herne et al. (2019), Verdú et al. (2021).
