It was assigned to Ichthyosauria by von Huene (1951) and McGowan (1974); to Ichthyopterygia by von Huene (1956) and Appleby (1979); and to Hueneosauria by Maisch and Matzke (2000), Maisch and Matzke (2006) and Maisch (2010).
