Zhenyuanopterus longirostris
Taxonomy
Zhenyuanopterus longirostris was named by Lü (2010). Its type specimen is GLGMV 0001, a skeleton (Complete skeleton), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Huangbanjigou, Shangyuan, Beipiao (GLGVM collection), which is in a Barremian/Aptian lacustrine shale/mudstone in the Yixian Formation of China.

Jiang et al. 2014 | Large-sized boreopterids with the following character combination: a large number of teeth (i.e., 172); the tooth rows extend beyond the middle of the nasoantorbital fenestra; an elongated nasal process that nearly reaches the ventral margin of the nasoantorbital fenestra; the length of the dorsal and sacral vertebrae nearly half of the skull length; the length ratio of the humerus to metacarpal IV is ~91 percent; and the third wing phalanx, humerus, and femur are equal in length (modified from Lu ̈, 2010). |
