Taxonomy

Retiolitidae was named by Lapworth (1873). It is not extant. It was considered monophyletic by Melchin et al. (2011).

It was assigned to Diplograptina by Bulman (1970); to Graptolithina by Kozłowska-Dawidziuk (2001); to Graptoloidea by Kozłowska−Dawidziuk (2002); and to Retiolitoidea by Melchin et al. (2011), Maletz (2014).
