It was assigned to Ophthalmosauria by Druckenmiller and Maxwell (2010); to Thunnosauria by Fischer et al. (2011); and to Ophthalmosauridae by Fernandez and Maxwell (2012), Fischer et al. (2012), Fischer et al. (2013), Arkhangelsky and Zverkov (2014), Zverkov et al. (2015), Campos et al. (2020).
