Pseudopecten was named by Bayle (1878) [Sepkoski's age data: J Hett-l J Bajo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 715]. It is not extant. Its type is Pecten equivalvis.
It was assigned to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); to Pseudopectininae by Bouchet et al. (2010); and to Pectinidae by Waller (2006), Ros-Franch et al. (2014).
