Taxonomy
Prestellispongia stellata was named by Senowbari-Daryan (2005). Its type locality is Naybandan reefs, Tabas area, Cenral Iran, which is in a Sevatian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Nayband Formation of Iran.
