Taxonomy
Palaeoneilo cuneiformis was named by Fang (1987). Its type specimen is NIGP 71571, a valve (Right valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Tongxinqiao, Chenxian County, which is in a Roadian marine mudstone in the Dangchong Formation of China.
