Taxonomy
Vepricardium was named by Iredale (1929) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 1112]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Cardiidae by Lamprell and Whitehead (1992); to Cardiinae by Vokes (1980), Schneider (2002); to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Vepricardiini by Bouchet et al. (2010).
