Pecten (Pseudamusium) guppyi was named by Dall (1898) [NOMENCLATURE: Not fig. 12 of Dall 1898, pl. 34 (=Cyclopecten zalaya Waller, 2011)]. Its type specimen is USNM 135779, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Chlamys (Palliolum) guppyi by Woodring (1925); it was recombined as Pecten (Pseudamussium) guppyi by Gardner (1926); it was recombined as Cyclopecten guppyi by Waller (2011).
