Taxonomy
Madysaurus sharovi was named by Tatarinov (2005). Its type specimen is PIN 2584/11, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Madygen, site 14, which is in a Ladinian/Carnian lacustrine shale in the Madygen Formation of Kyrgyzstan.
