Parapolypora boraformis was named by Reid (2003). Its type specimen is UTGD 127156 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is H43, Porter's Hill, Taroona, which is in a Sakmarian offshore mudstone in the Bundella Formation of Australia.
