Taxonomy

Thecodontia was named by Owen (1859).

It was synonymized subjectively with Megalosauria by Osborn (1904); it was synonymized subjectively with Pseudosuchia by Haubold (1969); it was reranked as the unranked clade Thecodontia by Gardiner (1982).

Synonyms

Shansisuchus heiyuekouensis was named by Young (1964). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Heiyukou, 60116, Shinghsien, which is in an Anisian terrestrial horizon in the Ermaying Formation of China.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Charig and Sues (1976).
Seemannia was named by Huene (1958). Its type is Seemannia palaeotriadica.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Charig and Reig (1970); it was considered a nomen dubium by Charig and Sues (1976).

It was assigned to Proterosuchida by Kuhn (1971).
Seemannia palaeotriadica was named by Huene (1958). Its type specimen is GPIT Re 1116/1, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dietersweiler bei Freudenstadt, which is in an Aegean/Bithynian terrestrial claystone in the Röt Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Seemannia.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Charig and Reig (1970); it was considered a nomen dubium by Charig and Sues (1976).
Crenelosaurus was named by Ortlam (1967). Its type is Crenelosaurus nigrosilvanus.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Charig and Sues (1976).

It was assigned to Proterosuchidae by Ortlam (1967); and to Proterosuchida by Kuhn (1971).
Crenelosaurus nigrosilvanus was named by Ortlam (1967). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Baugrube Kappler, Schillerstraße, Pfalzgrafenweiler, which is in an Aegean/Bithynian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Röt Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Crenelosaurus.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Charig and Sues (1976).
Ocoyuntaia was named by Rusconi (1947).

It was considered a nomen dubium by Charig and Reig (1970) and Charig and Sues (1976).
Ocoyuntaia arquata was named by Rusconi (1947). Its type specimen is MNH-PV 557, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Uspallata, Agua de la Zorra, which is in a Triassic lacustrine mudstone/siltstone in the Agua de la Zorra Formation of Argentina.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Charig and Reig (1970) and Charig and Sues (1976).
