Taxonomy
Trichopeltarion merrinae was named by Schweitzer and Salva (2000). Its type specimen is OU 41605, an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Urenui, which is in a Tongaporutuan marine horizon in the Urenui Formation of New Zealand.
