Taxonomy
Trogloplacinae was named by Guinot (1986). It is extant. Its type is Trogloplax.

It was reranked as the family Trogloplacidae by Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006).

It was assigned to Goneplacidae by Karasawa and Kato (2003); to Goneplacoidea by Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006); and to Chasmocarcinidae by Schweitzer et al. (2010), Schweitzer et al. (2022).
