Taxonomy
Cretophotina mongolica was named by Gratshev and Zherikhin (1993). Its type specimen is PIN 3559/10179, a forewing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bon Tsagaan (PIN collection 3559), which is in an Aptian lacustrine siliciclastic in the Dzun-Bain Formation of Mongolia.
