Taxonomy
Rhomphaiodon nicolensis was named by Duffin (1993). Its type specimen is SNP 1000, a set of teeth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Saint-Nicolas-de-Port, which is in a Rhaetian fluvial-lacustrine sandstone in the Grès à Avicula contorta Formation of France.
