Metriorhynchus palpebosus
Taxonomy
Steneosaurus palpebosus was named by Phillips (1871). Its type specimen is OXFUM J.29823, a partial skull (skull and poorly preserved mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Shotover Hill, Kimmeridge Clay, which is in a Tithonian marine claystone in the Kimmeridge Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was synonymized subjectively with Metriorhynchus geoffroyii by Young et al. (2010); it was recombined as Metriorhynchus palpebosus by Woodward (1885) and Bronzati et al. (2012).
