Metriorhynchus westermanni
Taxonomy
Metriorhynchus westermanni was named by Gasparini (1980). Its type specimen is MGHF 1-010199, a skull (skull with mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Immediately north of Placilla de Caracoles, near the cemetery, which is in a Callovian marine shale in the Mina Chica Formation of Chile.
It was recombined as Purranisaurus westermanni by Young et al. (2010).
