Taxonomy
Ptycholepis minor was named by Egerton (1852). Its type specimen is BMNH P.574, P.3694, a partial skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Barrow-on-Soar (BMNH collection), which is in a Planorbis marine limestone in the United Kingdom.
