Quadrulinae was named by Ihering (1901) [m. kosnik taxon no: 10849]. It is extant.

It was reranked as the tribe Quadrulini by Bouchet et al. (2010), Carter et al. (2011).

It was assigned to Unionidae by Vokes (1980); and to Ambleminae by Bouchet et al. (2010), Carter et al. (2011).
