Janira soror was named by Gabb (1873). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pecten (Pecten) soror by Dall (1898); it was recombined as Pecten soror by Pilsvry (1922), Hodson et al. (1927); it was recombined as Euvola soror by Waller (2011).
