Taxonomy
Arietites rotticus was named by Rothpletz (1892). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Batu Baraketak mud volcano, Rotti Island, which is in a Jurassic/Jurassic marine horizon in Indonesia.
It was recombined as Metophioceras rotticus by Guerin-Franiatte (1966).
