Taxonomy
Modiolus omanensis was named by Hudson and Jefferies (1961). Its type specimen is BMNH LL154 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wadi Milaha, Jebel Hagab (Modiolus Beds), which is in a Norian marine wackestone/shale in the Sumra Formation of the United Arab Emirates.
