Taxonomy
Tropites izardi was named by Tozer (1994). Its type specimen is GSC 28985 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Izard Point, Ououkinsh Inlet, Vancouver Island (GSC 23066), which is in a Carnian carbonate horizon in the Quatsino Limestone Formation of Canada.
