Taxonomy
Thalassemys moseri was named by Bräm (1965). Its type specimen is NMS 9151 (holotype; formerly NMS 618), a partial shell (partial shell with only the medial part of the carapace preserved), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Limestone quarry within or around Solothurn, which is in a Kimmeridgian shallow subtidal limestone in the Reuchenette Formation of Switzerland.
It was synonymized subjectively with Plesiochelys solodurensis by Lapparent de Broin et al. (1996); it was considered a nomen dubium by Pérez-García (2015); it was recombined as Jurassichelon moseri by Anquetin et al. (2017).

Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
J. Anquetin et al. 2017 | Jurassichelon moseri can be diagnosed as a representative of Jurassichelon by the full list of shell characters provided above for that taxon. Jurassichelon moseri differs from Jurassich- elon oleronensis by having thicker shell bones, wider lateral peripherals that are connected to the plastron by a sutural contact, absence of lateral plastral fontanelles, and a reduced, though sutural, midline contact of the plastral elements. |
