Megapiranha paranensis

Taxonomy
Megapiranha paranensis was named by Cione et al. (2009). Its type specimen is MLP 96-XI-5-1, fragmentary right premaxilla with three complete teeth and one fragmentary tooth, a maxilla (Partial premaxilla), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Paraná River Cliffs, which is in a Huayquerian fluvial conglomerate/mudstone in the Ituzaingo Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Megapiranha.
