Taxonomy
Palaeoniscus alberti was named by Jackson (1851). Its type specimen is BMNH P.1010, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Albert Mines fish collection, which is in a Tournaisian terrestrial shale in the Albert Formation of Canada.

It was recombined as Rhadinichthys alberti by Woodward (1891), Hay (1902).

  • Palaeoniscus modulus was named by Dawson (1877). It is a 3D body fossil.

    It was recombined as Rhadinichthys modulus by Woodward (1891), Hay (1902); it was recombined as Canobius modulus by Lambe (1909); it was synonymized subjectively with Rhadinichthys alberti by Westoll (1938).
