Thorakidictyon myriocanthum was named by Cohen and Knoll (2012) [1986 Chilodictyon myriocanthum ALLISON AND HILGERT, p. 996, fig. 8.1–8.3. 1986 Chilodictyon caliporum var. striomarginatum ALLISON AND HILGERT, p. 996, fig. 7.8, 7.9.]. Its type specimen is Holotype YG#418.45 and is a 3D body fossil.
