Taxonomy
Eobuthus was named by Fritsch (1904). Its type is Eobuthus rakovnicensis.

It was synonymized subjectively with Isobuthus by Petrunkevitch (1953).

It was assigned to Isobuthidae by Petrunkevitch (1949); and to Eobuthidae by Kjellesvig-Waering (1986), Dunlop et al. (2013).
