Taxonomy
Ambiortiphagus ponomarenkoi was named by Eskov and Zonshtein (1990). Its type specimen is PIN 3559/5764, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bon Tsagaan (PIN collection 3559, outcrop 78/25), which is in an Aptian lacustrine siliciclastic in the Dzun-Bain Formation of Mongolia. It is the type species of Ambiortiphagus.
