Taxonomy
Archaea bitterfeldensis was named by Wunderlich (2004). Its type specimen is MfN MB.A.985 and is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Bitterfeld amber (MfN collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Germany.
