Grallator socialis

Taxonomy
Deuterotrisauropus socialis was named by Ellenberger (1970). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Maphutseng II tracksite (zone A/4), which is in a Norian/Rhaetian terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Elliot Formation of Lesotho. It is the type species of Deuterotrisauropus.

It was recombined as Grallator socialis by Olsen and Galton (1984).

P. Ellenberger 1972- PES: Longueur du pied, 200 mm (du doigt II, 95 mm; de III, 115 mm; de IV, 120 mm; de V, ? mm; projection de III en avant du bout des doigts latéraux, 70 mm). Largeur du pied entre l'extrémité des doigts latéraux, 125 mm. Divarication totale II-IV, 42-45° (II-III, 20°; III-IV, 22°). Les coussinets de phalanges sont visibles mais rétrécis, les doigts sont munis de griffes aigües. L'arrière du pied est bien carré à Maphutseng (faux “talon”) . On y discerne les articulations des métatarses avec les 3 doigts médians.
- MANUS: La main n’a jamais touché le sol.
- PISTE: Enjambée, 1,90 m à 2,00 m (Pas = 0,95 m à 1,00 m), Ped, angulatio, 7 à 10°, Ecartement: 0,13 m (de 0,05 à 0,019 m: la démarche se fait avec vivacité et variations dans l'allure.
