Taxonomy
Capsispora vulcanica was named by Llorens (2008). It is not extant. Its type locality is Punta del Barco Norte, which is in an Aptian fluvial conglomerate/sandstone in the Punta del Barco Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Capsispora.

M. Llorens 2008Trilete perisporate spore. Body spore with circular to subtriangular amb, smooth exospore and laesura with straight arms. Globose and rigid perispore, more or less folded and ornamented, but never interrupted or specialized above the aperture. Ornamentation conformed by big cristae, rugules and cones with shape and thickeness variable and irregularly displayed.
